Hogtunes became an idea when our neighbor asked about some upgrade speakers for his 02 Ultra. Working for a large Canadian Audio Distributor, it was easy for us to try several different name brands to see what would work. All the speakers we tried were 4 ohms, and although they played louder, the didn't perform that great at highway speeds. Once we found a name brand speaker that worked the best from the ones we tried, a few of our neighbors riding buddies wanted some, and a local HD dealer even started to stock some.

After spending lots of time in on line forums, and looking around web sites, we realized there were not many options for a speaker designed specifically for Harley touring bikes. Our audio background allowed us to see why car speakers would never work that great on a bike, so we designed a speaker around our findings to fix these problems. Since we were heavily involved in car audio since 1986, and made relationships with good factories all over the world, Hogtunes could become a reality.

All of the above represents how this company started, and over 3 years later, we have come along way! We've added complete rear speaker add on kits with small amplifiers, speakers for the newer Harman Kardon Advanced Audio radios, and most recently 3 kits to add speakers into fairing lower glove boxes. We've had plenty of coverage in major magazines, and even got interviewed by Speed Channels
"American Thunder"

In December 2007, we moved into a new facility that allows us to expand our audio measurement capabilities and gave us the shop we wanted so badly. Our "lab" is setup so well, we have one home audio company which has agreed to use it to help develop their future products. One major motorcycle exhaust company has also shown interest in how we can measure all facets of sound, thinking they may use the lab someday to help develop high power, but quieter systems. Were working towards our ultimate goal of having a dyno in the lab so we can run vehicles at speed, and collect valuable data to make our own products even better.

The success of Hogtunes can be summed up pretty simply. "Treat people the way we want to be treated" and "If our customers aren't our best sales people, were in real trouble" are things commonly heard around the office. May seem basic, but these thoughts along with giving our customers easy to install products that work very well at fair prices have helped get Hogtunes where we are today.
