Note 1: Sometime in model year 2004, the factory improved the Road Glide fairing grill design to stop the speakers from hitting the grills when playing. If you have the older style grills, the supplied rubber spacers are required to stop this from destroying your speakers. The manual clearly explains the difference between the old and new style grills.
